Spanish and Greek students collaborating

Hi students,
our eTwinning project has come to an end. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we, the teachers, did. It was great working with you! You all did an amazing job and we would be happy to see that you go on writing new posts for your blogs. It would really be interesting to read how you feel about all these:
Did you like the project?
How did you feel about meeting students from another country?
Is there something you would like to say to them in public?
Please, leave your comment here so that everybody can read it!
Best wishes!

Free writing!

Hi students!
The moment you've been waiting for has arrived. You are free to write about any subject you like! Here are a few suggestions:
- easter customs of your country,
- the greatest figure in the history of your country,
- the biggest problems your country is facing at the moment, what you suggest to solve them and how you visualize yourself in the future.
Or... you can think of your own subject. Enjoy it!

The new 1 Euro coin of my country

In every country, the 1 euro coin has a common reverse side (the side of a coin that does not bear the main design), portraying a map of Europe, but each country in the eurozone has its own design in the obverse (the side of a coin that bears the main design).
Your country has dicided to issue a new 1 euro coin and has asked for your opinion on the new obverse design. Choose a famous building of your country that you believe is the most suitable. Describe it, say where it is what it is used for and justify your selection. Show us a picture of it.

Michael Phelps

Swimming superstar Michael Phelps has been suspended from competing for three months after a photo emerged that showed him with a marijuana pipe. The swimmer, who won eight gold medals in the Beijing Olympics, apologised to his fans and promised it would not happen again.

"I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me.

"For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again. What is your opinion about Michael Phelps and his behaviour? Do you believe he should be punished? Article from SkyNews: http://news.sky.com/, Friday February 06, 2009

Comments

Hi students,

most of you have completed the second task (we need to see photos from everybody!). It was very interenting to read about the place where you live. It would be interesting, as well, to hear what you think about what others have written. Does the place they are describing remind you of yours? Would you like to visit it? Please, leave a comment for their posts. Reading comments of what we write, which shows us that somebody has been reading what we are writing, makes blogging more appealing!

Good work, students!

Hi students! Congratulations on the blogs you have created and the first entries you have written! Here are some of the things you wrote, that we found very interesting:

☺ I don't like christmas because is too much religion, too much consumism and too much family =D. On the other hand, I love christmas because my grandma cooks.
☺ People celebrate Christmas a lot because they are influensed by the christmas spirit.
☺ I very like the xmas because I very like recive presents and the cold, because in the summer the temperature are insoportable, very hot!!!
☺ We like Christmas because is a celebration for the children. We have more free time …. We take a lot of presents … and we eat a lot of sweets. We decorate the Christmas tree …
☺ The day is exchange of visits and various gifts and prevailing customs, such as vasilopitas etc., which we inherited from our ancestors the Byzantines...

☺ I like the lights but also would be nice to find a solution to spend less energy. I like that people make gifts, but I don't like consumerism... In the town square, next to clock of the church, it is tradition that all the villagers will meet after dinner to take the twelve grapes.
Well done!
Look at the post titled “My neighbourhood, my city!” to see what you have to do next.

My neighbourhood, my city!

Sometimes we love the place we live in and want to stay there for ever, but sometimes we just hate it and want to go away.
Imagine that a Spanish friend (if you are Greek) or a Greek friend (if you are Spanish) is planning to visit you for the first time. Use the title "My neighbourhood, my city!" for your new post. First, describe your neighbourhood:
- What can one see near your house?
- Are there any leisure or sports centers around?
- Is it a quiet or a noisy neighbourhood?
- What kind of buildings are there?
- Do you like it or not and why?
Then, write some information about your city:
- What would you advise your friend to visit as a tourist?
- What means of transport should the tourists use?
You should upload some photographs for your friend to see! (no photographs of your house, please).
Write your post until the 20th of January. Check out what other students have written in their blog. By the 22nd of January, each one of you should have commented on at least one of the others' blog.
